Peter Malone's view of the Pennine way
Diana Young led the  "C" walk
. In reasonable weather conditions 22 ‘C’ walkers set out from Hawes on the 9 miles around the Wensleydale Valley.  After a short distance on the A684, we turned right onto a footpath which took us to Burtersett.  From here we followed High Lane to the Roman Road which we followed for approximately 2 km until we turned off to the left to go via footpaths to Bainbridge where we enjoyed our picnic lunch on the village green.  Towards the end of our lunch stop the wind got a little stronger and more clouds appeared.

We left Bainbridge and crossed over the River Yore before striking off to the left for the gentle climb up to Skell Gill where we again turned left to make our way to Sedbusk.  As we were nearing Sedbusk we had a couple of very heavy showers of rain and the temperature plummeted but we eventually arrived in Hawes in the dry.  Everyone agreed it had been a very enjoyable walk
