Superb weather especially for Feb our 4 walks set off in fleeces woolly hats and Gore-Tex

jackets. Within 2 miles  all of these were shoved into backpacks as the temperature soared.

In our fullest coach for some time there were 9 new walkers

"A" walk went up the Calf ,the highest point of the Howgills taking in Arant Haw and the

Calders on the way. As the weather was so fine we carried on over Bram Rigg Top and

White Fell Head and on to Breaks head before turning South west and walking along the

ridge, with terrific views over towards the Lakes, to Fell Head . We then dropped steeply

down the ridge and followed the road back to Sedbergh

"B" and "C" walks followed similar routes taking the dales way

into the Lune valley climbing up to Master Knotts and visiting

Fox's pulpit

The Sedbergh 6 miler

Peter Malone led "D" walk the The Sedbergh 6 miler

Walking West from Main St. car park we turned left down Loftus Hill & continued south toward

the River Rawthey for half a mile.We then located the Dales Way - SD 661 914, a gate on

our right leading into a field. The Dales Way lead us through a wood & along the banks of the

River Rathey. After 0.8 mile along the Dales Way we stopped to admire a weir, from a

footbridge crossing the river. A further 0.6 miles further we discovered delightful disused

single-span iron Railway Bridge. Apparently it carried the Clapham to Lowgill line over the River

Rawthey. It's now owned by the Gas Board who run a pipeline across it. The next 0.5 mile took

us to the main A683 road which we crossed over & picked up the Dales Way 150yds further.

We continued following the Way 1.2 miles further north to Lincoln’s Bridge. SD 631 922.

This is where we left the Dales Way & took the easterly A684 for 460yds to Slacks Lane.

We turned north up the lane for 40yds until we located a R.O.W. going east for 0.6 miles to

Howgill Lane. We then walked south east for just under a mile back to The Dalesman in

Sedbergh for a welcome pint of beer.
