The `B` group took a route across

the fields to Ashton in the Water.

We then continued to Monsal Head and the tunnel,( ex Midland Railway Manchester to Derby main line  built in 1861) editors  note, sorry about the anarak

"The valley is gone, and the Gods with it; and now, every fool in Buxton can be in Bakewell in half an hour, and every fool in Bakewell at Buxton; which you think a lucrative process of exchange – you Fools everywhere'."

John Ruskin

 after which we dropped down

into Monsal Dale to head south

. After a short walk we came across the `A` group resting comfortably on the river bank. Bidding our farewells we continued to

Shelton, where we had lunch

and a brief visit to the local

hostelry. We were almost

immediately joined by the

`A` group who had recovered

from their exertions on the river bank !

Departing once again, we continued to Bakewell and some additional refreshments !
