Meet at The Running Horses (L31 4EN) at Lydiate at 9.30am for a 9.45 start and to order lunch.
The Walk: A flat walk using Cheshire Lines Path and the Liverpool Leeds canal towpath.
From the pub we walk across fields to the Cheshire Lines which we follow southwards to Sefton Meadows, through the outskirts of Maghull and on to the A59.
We cross the A59 and follow a path under the East bound M58 and over the West bound M58 via a footbridge (36 steps up, 51 steps down!).
There will be a coffee break in this area, bring your own!
From here we cross fields to Wood Hall Farm and on to Brewery Lane where we join the Liverpool Leeds canal.
We head north up the towpath back to the pub. No stiles!
Travel. From Formby go past Tesco across the Moss towards Farmer Teds.
Do not turn left for Farmer Teds but go straight on onto and along Acres Lane.
After about 2 miles the lane turns sharp left and becomes Bell’s Lane with the Running Horses on the right just before the canal.
Journey: Distance (from Formby) 7 miles, allow 20 minutes.
