‘A’ Walk
Distance: 12 miles
Ascent: 2000 ft
Leaders:
Ken Bryning
Shaun Rollinson

A circular walk from Edale aiming to visit Jacob's Ladder, Edale Cross, Mount Famine, Rushup Edge, Lord's Seat, Mam Tor and Hollins Cross.
Starting from Edale, we take a country lane north to Grindsbrook Booth and then follow the Pennine Way west to Upper Booth and then the steep ascent along Jacob's Ladder for hopefully some fine views.
Continuing west to Edale Cross we aim to then descend to Coldwell Clough and Higher Heys Farm and then picking up the Pennine Bridleway south east past Mount Famine to Rushup Edge. (Should weather or timing necessitate, at Edale Cross we could head south over Brown Knoll to Rushup Edge and cut 2 miles off the walk.)
On Ruship Edge Ridge heading East we pass Lord's Seat (popular with Hang Gliders) and then descend the ridge and climb popular Mam Tor.
We aim then to go along the new ridge to Hollins Cross and drop down north back to Edale or if the pub call is urgent drop directly north to Edale from Mam Tor.

‘B+’ Walk
Distance: 10 miles
Ascent: 2000 ft
Leaders:
Ray Webb
Dave Walker

If the weather is good, this ridge walk will provide excellent views of the Cloughs below and across the valley to Rushop Edge and Mam Tor to the south.
However, as Club funds do not stretch to the hire of a helicopter, it will be necessary to cross Heardman’s Plantation, climb The Nab and continue upwards to Ringing Roger (127873) to reach the ridge.
Following a largely westerly bearing, the ridge takes us past Grindslow Knoll to the south and on to Crowden Tower and Noe Stool (083869).
At this point we swing south to Swine’s Bank where we pick up the Pennine Way, which we follow down Jacob’s Ladder, through Upper Booth and on to Grindsbrook Booth.
From here a short road walk takes us back to Edale. Large sections of the route have been paved to ease the passage of walkers over the peat beneath their feet.

‘B’ Walk
Distance: 8 miles
Ascent: 1850 ft
Leaders:
Liz Bellman
Louise Pimm

The B walk starts from the car park in Edale.
The walk follows the quieter slopes of the eastern end of the Kinder plateau.
First we take a footpath to Ollerbrook Booth and then we take a path uphill towards the youth hostel at Rowland Gate.
We continue along undulating paths across open country giving spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
We continue our ascent to enter Jaggers Clough.
We carry on uphill onto Crookstone Out Moor.
The path follows along the southern edge of Kinder towards Ollerbrook Clough.
We then reach the prominence of Ringing Roger,  where we descend steeply down Golden Clough and The Nab on a zig zag path.
We pass the Old Nags Head Pub (the start of the Pennine Way) where we stopped for some much needed liquid refreshment (the cakes looked pretty nice too).
We then follow the road down for half a mile to return to the coach.
This is a reasonably strenuous walk.

‘C’ Walk
Distance: 7 miles
Ascent: 1000 ft
Leaders:
Denise Nunn
Anne Belcher

This circular walk starts at Edale where we follow a footpath which steadily climbs through hillside and woods to the summit of Mam Tor, the largest of the Peak's hill forts and is the hill we pass on the coach as we descend into Edale.
The path is steep and muddy in places and will be taken at a steady pace with plenty of stops to admire the views.
We then continue our climb to Rushup Edge, which is a ridge walk on a good path with fantastic panoramic views on a clear day.
We pass Lord's Seat and continue along Chapel Gate, a stoney footpath which descends to the hamlet of Barber Booth, continuing through meadow and farmland back to Edale.
The majority of the climbing will be completed before lunch.
