This circular walk starts and finishes at the Cottage Loaf Pub situated on Telegraph Road, Thurstaston.
The Cottage Loaf staffs have offered to open early to allow us to use the facilities and have a coffee before we start and at the time of our reccie, were offering meals from £5.99.
Our first point of interest is St Bartholomew’s Church, which is the 3rd church on this site and boasts to have had the same architect as Truro Cathedral. You will also observe the Tower from the 2nd church dated 1724, unfortunately, evidence from the original church has been lost over time.
Our second point of interest, if you look closely at the gate you will see a quirky opening and closing mechanism, ingenious engineers.
We will then continue along a well defined path to our 3rd point of interest, which is a quirky gated stile, ingenious! As we progress along the ridge, the views over the River Dee to Wales with Moel Famau in the distance are splendid.
After a short period of road walking we will come to our 4th point of interest a Super Lamb Banana at Dale Farm, where adults with Learning Difficulties are given the opportunity to work and socialise. Their motto is “A place to grow”.
From here we drop down, over the Wirral Way to the coast and tide dependent, we will walk along the beach before heading across Heswall Fields to join the Wirral Way to the Visitors Centre, where we can take the opportunity for a ‘comfort break’.
Retracing our steps for a short distance to; ‘The Dungeon’ and Wirral’s only waterfall, we rejoin our outward going footpath, back to the Cottage Loaf.
