An undulating stroll from Haverthwaite taking in Bouth and thence via a Woodland Trust path to Colton.
Turning north we take to the hills above Crake Valley along clear paths to High Bethecar.
We seek and indeed find fine views of Coniston Water from Low Light Haw.
Turning inland to Arnsbarrow Hill we then go round the similarly named tarn to ascend Top o’ Selside.
To finish we descend through the forest to Grizedale Visitor Centre.

The 4 Hump Challenge!   Not much of a challenge this, but it is 4 climbs – the worst only 570ft.

We start from the car park in a north westerly direction climbing up to Park Plantation before descending towards Coniston Water at Black Beck cottage.
Great views of Coniston Water and the Old Man will be taken.
Here we turn south and head along the boundary with Brantwood House before climbing again to Mustard Hill.
Changing direction to the south east we descend into the delightful village of Satterthwaite.
A short climb out of the village takes us to our third hump – Breasty Haw and onwards to Low Scar Wood.
Turning in a north westerly direction again we climb through woodland past Tarn Intake before turning south west to pick up the path passing various sculptures before returning to the car park.
Much of this walk is on very good solid paths – very little opportunity to get wet or muddy and very few stiles to contend with.

‘B’ Walk
Distance: 9 miles
Ascent: 1850 ft
Leaders:
David Poole
David Wake

A circular walk starting from the Grizedale Visitor centre , we follow forest tracks and paths, green lanes and a short stretch of tarmac road.
Most of the walk is on gravel surfaces with some short, possibly muddy paths.
Although most of the walk is in the forest it is not all tree covered, there are quite a few open areas.
It is an undulating walk with a couple of short uphill sections.
Look out for the artwork en route.

‘C’ Walk
Distance: 7 miles
Ascent: 500 ft
Leaders:
David Turton

Stuart Norris

This circular walk is based on the Grizedale Visitor Centre and, weather permitting, will provide views of the surrounding hills and a glimpse of Coniston Water.
From the Visitor Centre we make our way up a stony path to a Fox sculpture at the summit.
A walk through the forest takes us to Hawkshead Moor and then onto Hawkshead Hall Park where we join a broad cycle path for a while before a footpath ascent to Monk Coniston Moor.
We then follow another broad cycle path before descending via a stony path to the Visitor Centre.
