We leave the coach at Bolton bridge and pick up the dales way to Bolton abbey to the north where there are toilets.
Leaving the abbey we start our steady climb through westy bank wood and then onto the moors to the hare heads.
This gives us great views down both valleys.
We carry on north westwards to brayshaw and then continue to north earls where we turn south over embsay moor and climb to the top of embsay crag. We descend to the reservoir and into the village.
Turning westward we pick up a path over fields and then south into skipton passing the castle. |

| From the coach we set off through the streets of Skipton in a south easterly direction steadily rising up to Skipton Moor.
We then contour in an easterly direction along the northern scarp of the moor with extensive views over Skipton.
On reaching a minor road we turn northwards to descend into the pretty village of Draughton.
From here we pass in a north western direction through fields to cross the A59, over the Embsay- Bolton Abbey Railway and on to Eastby.
We now head south westerly through Embsay and on under the A59 to the outskirts of Skipton.
We complete the walk through Skipton Woods alongside a mill race before passing under the impressive northern walls of Skipton Castle.
There are about 10 stiles on the walk. |

We leave Skipton passing under the railway and walk by allotments and through a small housing estate.
Once out of town we head for Cawder Hall Farm and then by field paths to Low Bradley.
The path then climbs up out of Low Bradley before we drop down to cross the canal which we follow back in to Skipton. |
