‘A’ Walk
Distance: 9 miles
Ascent: 3300 ft
Leaders:
Ian Currie
Gordon Spence

In good weather this is a splendid travers of the main Glyder peaks.
From Capel Curig we ascend a broad ridge , before the steep ascent to Foel Goch with the first striking views of the Snowdon horseshoe and beyond.
A gentle descent and some boggy ground gives us close up views of Tryfan and takes us to the rocky path up Glyder Fach.
Care is neede on the massive jumble of rocks ( The Cantilever stone is a must for   photographers).
Continuing to Castell y Gwynt ( named for its organ like sound in strong winds) we continue to Glyder Fawr the high point (999m, 3279ft).
From here its all downhill. Initially ,with care,on steep loose scree to Llyn y Cwn ,then a gentle walk to the A4086 , where we have a short road walk to the climbers pub.
An alternative walk will be offered if the weather is poor.

‘B+’ Walk
Distance: 6 miles
Ascent:2400 ft
Leaders:
Trevor Ludlow
Emily Ludlow

The distance is short, but this is Snowdonia and it needs to be.
Mindful of the time we will start and the coach pick up time, this walk give us the opportunity to summit Foel-Goch (2700ft).
From this viewpoint we can look seaward to Anglesey and beyond and in the other direction the might of Tryfan, towering over lake Llyn Ogwen and the dinky cars on the road beside, not to mention Snowdon.
The walk will be taken steadily as the paths are narrow, poor at times and on a few occasions we will need to walk over moorland grass.
The walk starts in Nant Peris at the head lake Llyn Peris and the slate quarries.
We climb 800ft up to Qwm Dudodyn a long valley which gently inclines, over 1 mile, to its head which leaves us with the final steep 800ft climb (at your own pace and own route) to the summit.
We will walk along a short section of the rim before descending over grass moorland before the final drop down back into Nant Peris.
An alternative walk will be offered if visibility is poor.
Change of plan: The above has been replaced by a more varied walk. From Lanberis, westwards to climb Cefn-Du and return via a clockwise loop.

‘B’ Walk
Distance: 7 miles
Ascent: 1750 ft
Leaders:
Jean Makeating
David Willis

Although rather more climbing than the usual ‘B’ walk, it is considerably shorter so will be taken at a gentle pace.  We leave Llanberris alongside the Snowdon Mountain Railway, climbing steadily to a waterfall, then on to Maen-llwyd-isaf and Bwlch-y-groes where we turn north to the abandoned slate quarries and tips, for our lunch break, near the highest point of the walk.
The descent is gently to the Hut circles and a small lane, before a short steep descent to the A4086.
Country lanes take us around the head of the lake to Penllyn Station and Fachwen.
Heading south we follow a footpath into the Padarn Country Park and then, via the lakeside footpath, to Llanberris.

‘C’ Walk
Distance: 6.5 miles
Ascent: 650 ft
Leaders:
Craig Baker
Stuart Norris

This is a circular walk around Llyn Padarn.
We start in Llanberis and head through the village and start to climb up Cefn-du via minor road and track (don’t worry we are not going to the top), we follow another minor road past disused slate quarries, from here we should, weather permitting have some great views over the lake.
At the reservoir just before Bryn Bras Castle we descend down to the
A4086 at the top of the lake. From here we cross over Afen Rhythallt and head back towards Llanberis on the other side of the lake via minor road and path through Padarn Country Park and the Slate museum.
