From Bethesda centre we make our way up to the highest part of the town to pick up the track that follows the Afon Llafar river valley for about 1¾ miles.
Along the valley there are good views of the surrounding peaks and sheer glaciated cliffs (a man told me what they were!).
At the head of the valley we can now see our destination, the peak of Carnedd Llewelyn.
From the head of the valley there is no clearly defined track but we make our way up along side a stream, which passes some of the remains of a crashed plane, to Bwlch Cyfryn Drum at which point we join the path up to Carnedd Llewelyn this part of the climb is about 410 metres from the valley.
We continue to climb to the summit of Carnedd Llewelyn 1064 metres.
From here the there are spectacular views to Anglesey, The Coast, Conway Valley Snowdon, etc.
This is of course cloud base permitting.
We start to make our way down via Yr Elen 962 metres and then on to quite a steep descent on a scree path to Foel Ganol.
From here we follow a grassy track down to the valley, which we cross to join the path back to town. |

| What this "easy" B+ walk lacks in distance and height it makes up for with great views all day.
We start from the village Abergwyngregyn and after walking through the village we are immediately in a delightful wooded valley.
There are toilets available after about three quarters of a mile of walking.
The walk up the valley takes us to the delightful Aber Falls where you can enjoy the " coffee break" and the spectacle.
We leave the valley on the opposite side to which we entered, higher up and heading towards the sea.
The Menai Straights and Puffin Island eventually come into view ahead (weather permitting).
The sea and Anglesey are then our constant companion as we walk over pleasant terrain in the direction of Bethesda.
For a climax we will ascend Moel Faben, which you will hardly notice, honest!
From here you can avert your gaze away from the sea as the Snowdon Mountain Ranges come into view in the opposite direction.
A short descent then takes us directly into Bethesda. |

| This walk follows mainly the same route as the B+, with less of the climbing and at a slower pace.
Leaving the coach on the A55 at Abergwyngregyr, we chug steadily up to the impressive dual display of the Aber Falls.
From there we follow part of the North Wales Path around the headland, with excellent views out to sea, weather permitting.
Heading inland we make our way over farm and moor land until we descend to the delights of Bethesda. |

Starting in the centre of Bethesda, we head out of the village on a steady climb via road and open field towards Moel Fabon.
We skirt around the peak (don't worry Val we are not going to the top) via open fields that have great views of Anglesey and the surrounding area.
We reach the North Wales Path at the foot of Moel Wnion where we start the return back to Bethesda on the Path and by country lanes. |
