On Sunday 27 November we have a change of plan . Our original plan to walk in the Berwin area of Wales was deemed too far to travel at this time of the year, so for a shorter journey we will take you to the East Cumbria area around the village of Orton . Those who have walked the Coast-to-Coast Walk will know this place as it is on that route. The coach will leave school as usual at 8.00 am prompt. We will have a short stop at Old Tebay Services to use their toilets. All walks finish in Orton where there is a pub (which was undergoing refurbishment and may not be open!), tearooms, and the chocolate factory, which we are told, will be open on the day. We plan to leave Orton at 5.00 pm to be back in Formby at about 1900 hrs. Conditions underfoot mean walking boots will be essential.

Starting from Orton we head north via Orton Scar to the monument on Beacon Hill and then continue to Gaythorne Hall. |

| We leave Orton across the village green in an easterly direction through fields to an ancient stone circle before starting our slight ascent to the limestone pavements. |
|||||||
| We start our walk from the service station in the village of Old Tebay, passing through the village to walk alongside the River Lune for a short distance before turning west, passing under the M6 and then the West Coast railway line to Greenholme. |
