Range Walking Club
Sunday 24th June 2001, Wirral Coastal Path.

The Foot and Mouth crisis is still affecting our walking programme but we have managed to put together 3 walks in Wirral for Sunday 24 June. The coach will leave school at 09.00 hours, and there will be no toilet stop on this short journey; toilets are available at or very near the start of each walk. The coach will commence the return journey from Wirral at 4.00pm to be back in Formby by 5.00pm. Cost of travel for these walks only will be £5.00 for adults and £3.00 for children and students in full time education who were formally pupils at Range High School. Please return the slip, completed in full, with a cheque (NOT CASH), in an envelope marked "Range Walking Club", to the school office by Thursday 14 June.

Walk 1
Starting from Seacombe Ferry Terminal where the coach will drop us off, we walk down the riverside walkway to New Brighton and Fort Perch. From here we walk partly along New Brighton Promenade and then across the grassy open area of Kings Parade. Crossing the main road we take to the coastal sand dunes towards Leasowe Lighthouse then along the sea wall to Hoylake promenade. At the end of the promenade, tide permitting, we walk along the beach to Red Rocks where we turn into the Dee Estuary and a nature reserve. We emerge from the nature reserve into West Kirby for a cup of tea (or stronger) and where the coach will be waiting.
