'C' Walk
A fairly easy circular walk, with enough climbing to give splendid views of Wmdermere, Grasmere, Rydal Water and the surrounding high fells. From Ambleside our route is to Clappersgate using a roadside path. We then.cross the road and follow a stony path with zigzags uphill, wooded in part, to reach Todd Crag (most of the ascent). Continuing westward on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell we follow a well-defined path to Loughrigg Tarn where we turn northward to eventually join a minor road which takes us up to Loughrigg Terrace overlooking Grasmere. We follow the Terrace round to Rydal Cave and then descend towards Rydal where we turn southward along a minor road which takes us to Millers Bridge near Ambleside. Crossing the bridge we make our way across Rothay Park, past the parish church and onto the main road (A591) and back to the car park.

Distance: 7 miles
Ascent: 500'
