A fairly demanding walk in so far as it is along steady climb. However, it can be taken at a reasonably leisurely pace. Most of the climbing will be done before lunch. In the vicinity of Dow Crag and Coniston Old Man children need to be kept on a lead!! The descent gives us lovely views of the lake in all its glory - mists permitting.

'C' Walk
The only climbing of this walk comes right at the beginning with a gentle ascent, starting on the outskirts of Skelwith Bridge onto undulating heath with fine views over Elter Water. This leads, via pleasant woodland and country lanes to the picturesque village of Hawkshead, where we have lunch. Fields and woodland then lead us to a picture postcard viewpoint over Tarn Hows from where a delightful descent through woods brings us to Coniston.
