- 'A' Walk
Starting by the bridge in Kettlewell we follow the Dales
Way and the River Wharfe up the valley to Buckden and
then, via Redmire Farm, take the bridleway over the
summit of Old Cote Moor Top (607 m) to the village of
Litton. Littondale is a gem of a valley offering the full
delights of the ales - including 'The Queens Arms' where
many a walker has been known to settle a thirst! We
follow the River Skirfare to Arncliffe before climbing
over Old Cote Little Moor (480 m) back to Kettlewell.

- Distance: 12 miles
- Ascent: 2000'
- Leaders: Ken Bryning and David Poole
-
- 'B'+ Walk
- The B+ walk makes use of an ancient drove road and a
monastic trackway across exposed limestone uplands. Given
good weather, the views are spectacular from start to
finish but, be warned, there is a 1 mile long ascent near
the end of the walk! Starting from the Tennant Arms at
Kilnsey we climb steadily for 2 miles, heading westwards
along Mastiles Lane. At GR 920655, within sight of Malham
Tarn, we turn north and, passing a Roman Camp and Great
Close Mire, join the Monk's Road at Middle House Farm.
This grassy track is then followed northeast, descending
gradually into the village of Arncliffe in secluded
Littondale. Having lost all our altitude, we now have to
climb 800' again to cross Old Cote Moor before the final
steep descent into Kettlewell.
Distance: 11 miles
- Ascent: 1800'
- Leaders: Glennis Poole and Dave Purdy
'B' Walk
Using a football analogy, this is a walk of 2 halves: low
level pre-lunch, higher level post-lunch. Commencing at
Kilnsey we cross the Wharfe at Conistone and amble south
along the lower slopes of the valley. Joining the Dales
Way we then head north, climbing steadily from Bycliffe
Road to the higher slopes at Capplestone Gate (001700).
We remain at this level for a couple of miles before
dropping down into Kettlewell above Dowber Gill Beck.
Hair pieces should be firmly secured for the afternoon
session!
Distance: 9 miles
- Ascent: 1100'
- Leaders: Mike Wood and Ray Webb
-
- 'C' Walk
- Starting at the turning for Arncliffe we follow the River
Skirfare upstream to Hawkswick. From here the main day's
climb begins as we head steadily upwards to reach the
day's highest point above Knipe Scar. Given a fine day
your efforts will be rewarded with some excellent views.
A gradual descent then takes us to Kettlewell in time for
lunch. A less energetic afternoon is now in prospect as
we explore both sides of the dale by walking to
Starbotton and back.

- Distance: 7½ miles
- Ascent: 850'
- Leaders: Barry Whitby and Peter Houghton
