Range Walking Club
Christmas Walk-Friday 27th December 1996-North Wales-Loggerheads
We return to a popular spot for our walk this Christmas - Loggerheads and Moel Fammau. There is ample parking at Loggerheads Country Park (197626) where we will start at 0930 hrs.  The walk will follow the River Alyn north to 187652, west past Pentre and steadily up onto Moel Fammau (1818 ft). Leaving the famous Jubilee Tower we descend south-east to Llanferres (188605) where we will have lunch. After lunch it is a short two mile stroll back to Loggerheads.

Distance: 8 miles
Ascent: 1100'
Leaders: Garfield Southall and Ken Bryning

We have reserved a choice of meals at the Druid Inn at Llanferres. Please indicate your choice and return the slip below together with a cheque covering £5.50 per person made payable to 'Range Walking Club' by Thursday 12 December.
Loggerheads Country Park is on the A494 about three miles south-west of Mold. One possible route is to leave Liverpool by the Queensway Tunnel (M53), leave at J5 and follow the A550 towards, but by-passing, Queensferry. The A550 secretly becomes the A494 here and care is needed to notice the left turn leading to Mold, just after a long pull up a hill. Keep on the A494, heading for Ruthin, and LCP is on the right, a mile or so after Gwernymynydd. (Allow 70 minutes for the journey).
