'A' Walk
A long walk for the time of the year, with fine views of Ingleborough (from almost every aspect) and the surrounding valleys. Starting at Ingleton, we leave the Ingleborough path to walk between limestone pavements over White Scar and Raven Scar with views of Black Shiver and the Arks. A steep but short climb follows to 'Bag' Ingleborough before we go downhill towards Horton in Ribblesdale. If time allows, we will turn north to look at Alam Pot (have 30p ready).

Distance: 13 miles
Ascent: 750 metres
Leaders: Gordon Spence and Rick Tynan

'B'+ Walk
Starting at Clapham, we go along Long Lane track past Long Scar through typical limestone country before descending to Horton in Ribblesdale. After a toilet stop and lunch we ascend Pen-y-ghent (694m). Much of the ascent has been improved by the laying of duckboards but the final 100m involves some scrambling. The descent is via the Pennine Way back to Horton in Ribblesdale.

Distance: 11 miles
Ascent 2000'
Leaders: Meirion Williams and Dave Miles

'B' Walk
Starting at Horton in Ribblesdale, we ascend Pen-y-ghent on the route taken by the 'B'+ group. Reaching the top we turn northwards to Plover Hill and then descend to Fox up Moor and Hall Pot before returning to Horton in Ribblesdale. This is a more difficult than usual 'B' walk as it involves a short scramble and a very steep descent. This walk is not for anyone who has no head for heights!

Distance: 9 miles
Ascent: 1516'
Leaders: Dave Griffiths and Keith Ellard

'C' Walk
A circular walk from Horton in Ribblesdale (the highest village in a valley which ends in the Irish Sea beyond Preston), providing an excellent way to appraise the varied features of the upper valley of the Ribble. The first part of the walk follows the river Ribble downstream and then diverts along an enclosed track, emerging at the Helwith Bridge Hotel where we will take a refreshment break. Fully rested, we go along the valley's main road a short distance before beginning a long, steady climb up the lower slopes of Pen-y-ghent, affording us unparalleled views of the valley (weather permitting). As we continue northwards we branch off to pass through Brackenbottom and finally past Brant's Gill Head before returning again to Horton.

Distance: 6½ miles
Ascent: 400'
Leaders: Dave Willis and Vikki Fahey
