- Range Walking Club
- Christmas Walk Wednesday 30th
December 1992-Lancashire-Darwen
This is an ideal walk for all the family, not too
strenuous and plenty of variety of scenery maybe even
snow. It will be taken at a pace to suit all abilities.
Boots are essential. We will leave the car park (Grid
Ref. SD 665203 on the Blackburn and Burnley map) at 10.00
a.m. and climb gently up on to the moorland to the
Jubilee Tower, a local landmark. From here, on a clear
day, places as-far away as Snowdonia, Lakeland, the
Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District can be seen. After
descending to the river we walk through Sunnyhurst Park
and then on to the Royal Arms at Ryal Fold, where lunch
should be waiting for us. Afterwards, a short descent
leads us to pathways alongside the picturesque
Roddlesworth reservoirs. The return to the car park is
mostly along an old coaching road through woodlands.
