Dales for the Hot-pot supper walks this year on Sunday,
12th February. The coach will leave school at 8.00 a.m.
prompt and we should be back in Formby by 7.30 p.m. There
are toilet facilities at the start and end of all
walks. The coach cost continues to remain at £3.00 for
adults and £2.00 for children. The Hot-pot costs have
been restricted to £3.00 per head. The choice of main
meal is meat and potatoe pie or plaice, both followed by
apple pie and coffee. Venue for the meal is the
Coronation Hotel just east of Gisburn on the A59. Will
members please indicate below which walk you are likely
to join and also the choice of main meal you would like.
It would be appreciated if the choice of meal is adhered
to on the day as a set number of each choice will be
ordered in advance. It should be pointed out that at this
time of year underfoot conditions can be very wet and
muddy and that weather conditions can be very inclement.
Therefore, adequate waterproofs and warm clothing are a
must and strong walkng boots or shoes are strongly
recommended.

Starts at the village of Buckden and ascends to the
summit of Buckden Pike (2302'). Excellent views are to be
enjoyed on clear days. We then descend to Kettlewell

lovely Wharfedale a constant feature all day it is a very
enjoyable walk in winter and summer alike.

North-easterly up the hillside. The climb ends as we
follow a turf path with Great Whernside looming ahead (in
clear weather). At Cam Head (1690') with Tor Dike
(constructed around 70 A.D.) in sight we turn South and
gradually descend back to Kettlewell with the beautiful
views of Wharfedale to be enjoyed all the way.
