Range Walking Club
Sunday16th December 1979-Trough of Bowland

The December walk will take place on Sunday, l6 December, in the Trough of Bowland area, details of which are set out below. If you would like to attend this walk, please complete the attached slip and return it as soon as possible to Mr Farthing in Room 4 during morning registration.

The coach will leave school at 8.45 a.m. and should return between 5.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. in the evening. As the days will be shorter and the weather colder, please come equipped with warm clothing (preferably woolen), good waterproofs, sturdy footwear, plenty of food and a warm drink.

Both walks will set off from Dunsop Bridge after a journey from Formby of approximately l 3/4 hours. The 'A' Walk will consist of  9 to10 miles of varied walking, the first two miles unfortunately along the road (but amid lovely scenery!) followed by an uphill ascent of grassy moorland, an interesting walk along the ridge and the return along the bottom of the valley with some beautiful views all the way. Some parts of this walk are boggy and therefore walking boots are essential for this party as well as the usual protective clothing.

The 'B' Walk is approximately 6 to 7 miles in length, mainly in the valley alongside the river with possibly a short ascent to complete the circular route. Although this walk is shorter, the ground will probably still be very wet so that boots are strongly recommended if at all possible.
