October 2nd -- Holmfirth, Yorkshire
A beautiful autumn day. All four walks linear into Holmfirth because of a triathlon start and finish in Holmfirth coach park

The A walk started by the Dovestone reservoir and took the road leading up to Chew reservoir; then across the moor to join the Pennine Way by Laddow Rocks, and on to Black Hill. From Black Hill descended via the fine Green Lane called Issues Road, past the foot of Brown Hill reservoir and along the Holme valley to Holmfirth.
Past the Dovestone reservoir
The Black Hill area "has peak bogs which are.. ..a match for those on either of its larger neighbours to the South.."
as we found out
the hard way!

Top of Black Hill (aka Soldier's Lump because the army force which erected the first trig point here had great difficulty finding solid ground on which to plant it)

The B- walk dropped off on the A635 by Wessenden Head and started along the Kirklees Way, then after about half a mile took a winding track over the moors to Holme. We then headed into Holme Woods and on past the Yateholme, Ramsden and Riding Wood reservoirs. Then over Crow Hill and down into Holmbridge, and along the River Holme to Holmfirth.
